ABOUT DIME MINISTRIES
A pastor’s wife is often the quiet and forgotten arm of God’s work in indigenous churches around the world. These women are constantly on call for church and family needs, with little time or opportunity for them to renew their body, soul, and spirit. They hunger for opportunities to deepen their knowledge of God and His Word, grow in their walk with Christ, and gain practical tips on how to more effectively manage ministry and family life. Dime Ministries is devoted to letting these faithful women of God know they are loved, appreciated, and vital to God’s plan for his Church and making His name known among the nations.
OUR MISSION
Dime Ministries’ mission is to ignite, mentor, and encourage indigenous pastors’ wives and women in ministry around the world so that they may realize the fullness of God, his love for his Church, and their significant role in it.
Just as the apostle Paul reminds his faithful servant, Timothy, to “fan into flames the gift of God which is in you” (2 Timothy 1:6), Dime Ministries seeks to ignite the power of the Holy Spirit in God’s women in ministry in indigenous churches. We want to inspire the development of mentor relationships among these women, just as Paul invited the women of Titus 2:3-5 to do. Dime Ministries also seeks to “encourage one another and build each other up” (1 Thessalonians 5:11) so that each woman recognizes her precious value in God’s eyes and the critical role she has in His Kingdom work.
Dime Ministries will ignite, mentor, and encourage these women by facilitating retreats and conferences for them in their home countries and churches. Through the teachings, training sessions, fellowship, and prayer times that are part of these Dime Ministry events, it is our sincerest prayer that they be filled to the “measure of all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:19)
BELIEF STATEMENT
God: We believe in one holy God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in a loving unity of three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man. We believe he is God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. We believe he lived a sinless life, was crucified under Pontius Pilate, arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father as our High Priest and Advocate.
The Holy Spirit: We believe the Holy Spirit is one of the three persons of God, who glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ in all that he does. We believe he convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgement; and he regenerates sinners, and in Him they are baptized into union with Christ and adopted as heirs in the family of God. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that he is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide for Christ-like living and service.
The Bible: We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written by man under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. Therefore, it is to be believed in all that it teaches, obeyed in all that it requires, and trusted in all that it promises.
Mankind: We believe that man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin, was alienated from God, and now lives under His wrath. Only through God’s saving gift of His Son Jesus Christ can we be reconciled of our sins, rescued from eternal condemnation, and renewed by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
The Work of Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ, as our representative and substitute, shed His blood on the cross as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. We believe His atoning death and victorious resurrection constitute the only grounds for salvation and eternal life in His Kingdom.
The Church: We believe that the true Church is comprised of all who have been justified by God’s grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ. They are united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ, of which Christ is the Head. The true Church is manifest in local churches, whose membership should be composed only of believers. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.
Christian Living: We believe that as believers in Christ, we should love God supremely and others sacrificially; that we should live for the glory of God and the well-being of fellow men; that we should be faithful stewards of the provisions and blessings God has bestowed upon us; that we should seek to realize for ourselves and others the full stature of maturity in Christ; and that we should obey Christ’s commission to make disciples among all people, always bearing witness to the gospel in word and deed.
Christ’s Return: We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His Kingdom; and that expectancy and hope of this motivates believers to godly living, sacrificial service, and energetic mission.
Response and Eternal Destiny: We believe that God desires everyone everywhere to believe the gospel and turn to Him in repentance and receive Jesus Christ as their Savior. We believe that upon Christ’s return, God will raise the dead bodily and judge the world, assigning the unbeliever to condemnation and eternal conscious punishment and the believer to eternal blessedness and joy with the Lord in the new heaven and the new earth.
STAFF
As the founder and president of Dime Ministries, Brenda Hernday is devoted to encouraging and equipping indigenous women of God in their faith and service to the Lord. Having grown up in a Christ-centered home in Upper Michigan, it wasn’t until God sent Brenda on a mission trip to Madagascar in 2004 that she truly understood what it meant to wholly surrender to the Lord. That trip removed her from the pilot seat of her own life, opened her eyes to the world, and forever “ruined” her for the ordinary.
In 2006, Brenda joined a fledgling ministry that was founded in Wisconsin but operating a children’s home and charitable outreaches in Sri Lanka. She traveled to Sri Lanka in 2007 and 2008 as part of the short term teams that helped build the children’s home. She was voted onto the organization’s board of directors in 2007 and held the position of board chair for seven years.
When Brenda traveled to Sri Lanka again in 2009 and 2012, it was to lead teams of women from Wisconsin to minister to pastors’ wives and other Christian women in different areas of Sri Lanka. Through these experiences, God grew Brenda’s heart for indigenous women of God and planted the seeds for starting a ministry solely devoted to serving these incredible daughters of the King around the world. Today Brenda’s passion is to make sure these women, who serve quietly and tirelessly, know their incredible worth in the eyes of their King!
Brenda is married to her husband, Jim, and they raised three boys who are now all adults.
